Bambi's Story
Bambi was rescued from Animal Control in Chicago by the Trio Animal Foundation. Bambi was a four month old Chihuahua puppy that had some very apparent mobility issues. After Trio sought out x-rays for him, it was discovered that Bambi had a severely malformed spine. At first, Bambi, named by Trio for the baby fawn like way he moved, lost the ability to walk as he grew.
At this point, Little Steps Big Strides For Pets provided rehabilitation services for Bambi which included therapeutic exercises as well as fabrication of a “stander” that would not put pressure on his malformed spine. Bambi was also measured for a custom cart from Eddie’s Wheels and it was adjusted for him when it arrived.

Although Bambi was like lightening in his wheels, he has regained the ability to walk on his own! Whether he was getting around on wheels or four legs, we love Bambi’s spunky little spirit!
Buddha's Story
Buddha, a white Shepherd/Labrador puppy mix was originally taken in by a rescue in Mississippi. He was assumed to be a ‘swimmer’ puppy, but it was later determined that he had been misdiagnosed. He was born with malformed back legs, and because of this, the cart his original family had ordered caused discomfort because Buddha’s legs were not able to be properly positioned. This is one of the reasons we’re so passionate about properly fitting and adjusting carts. Sometimes they are deemed as not an option for some animals with disabilities, when it’s really that they’re just not the right fit.

It was recommended to Buddha’s original rescue that he be euthanized, but thankfully they saw Buddha’s spirit and reached out for help and The Moon Dog Rescue saved the day (and Buddha)!
Sometimes, others can’t see the potential in some of these special pets. It is often feared they won’t have a good quality of life, when in actuality, animals are the BEST at living in the present and adapting to their circumstances.

It’s one of the reasons we’re passionate about working with rescue groups, foster parents, and adoptive parents that take in animals with disabilities. These animals can have amazing, fulfilling lives and give more to us than we could ever hope to give them!

Little Steps Big Strides For Pets partnered with Eddie’s Wheels to conceptualize a custom made cart to account for his unique hind limbs. We them measured him and adjusted the cart for him when it arrived. Buddha is total love bug with infectious puppy energy! He is quite the handsome guy tooling around in his wheels. We are so grateful that The Moon Dog Farm stepped in to give Buddha a second chance. And there’s more in store for Buddha. Stay tuned!
Champ's Story
Champ, who was paralyzed in his back legs was found dragging himself along a block. A kind soul found Champ, and when the Moon Dog Farm heard their pleas for help, they didn’t hesitate to step in and provide a loving home for Champ. He is quite the pampered pooch now.

Little Steps, Big Strides For Pets assisted Champ and The Moon Dog Farm by adjusting his custom made wheelchair. Proper adjustments can help with not only the comfort of the cart, but also allow for better use of muscles so your pet gets the most out of their cart time, (less compensations + optimal alignment = better muscle use and more muscle strengthening)!

Champ is such a handsome and sweet senior guy, and we were thrilled to fit
